Tuesdays are for playing... so that I wouldn't be altogether exhausted, I decided to forego rollerblading down to the L... did the big loop in Central Park this morning instead. Good thing, because I needed every ounce of spare energy (and then some!) for tonight's revelries.
... tried out a few new tricks today, and was reminded of some basics, like the back tuck, and reverse back tuck (kick forward, back forward! - how could I possibly have forgotten?!?) Tried the straddle mount, which I got with sporadic success (definitely due for a revisit), the straddle cut/catch, which also met with limited success.
Here's one attempt at the cut catch:
And another:
The trick is not to forget to straddle split (duh. that's why it's called a straddle cut catch. But in order to do that you have to release the bar. For some reason, when you are facing the board, that's surprisingly hard to do.)
I did it right one time, but you'll just have to take my word for that, since I didn't get it on vid.
And rounding out the class, I did a somewhat successful front-end uprise to a mod, to a shoot-suicide :-) Again no pics. Oh well. It will give me time to perfect it before it is memorialized.
As for the rest of the first wave, Marisa and Elena also played with the cut/catch, and Allegra mastered the clap!
Also, lots and lots of time working the board... Marisa playing mommy on me (thank you for checking my biners, but I want to do it myself!! [footstamp])... lots of very sweet comments about this blog - thank you all for those who wrote to me, posted comments, or who told me that you've stopped by to have a look. It is so nice to know that people are reading and enjoying! (more to say on this subject, but it's kind of sappy, so I'll have to leave it for a few weeks -- sappy comments can't come to often here, you know!)
Thanks also to Thais for being today's videographer. You did a great job with the videos! I'll try to be more on top of it next time.
When it was time for static, I was thoroughly exhausted. But hey, you plow through and hopefully find some inspiration at the end of it. I think that the puzzle may be coming together slowly. Need to keep playing the song on loop, even when I'm not training, and will go back this weekend for some more truss time. Can I have a piece ready by the 17th? (Idan Raichel is playing summerstage - anyone want to join me, and Things 1 and 2 to watch?) If I could, that would rock.
Got to go to bed. The girls aren't with me tonight, but I have to get up even earlier than usual tomorrow for a parent teacher conference with Thing 1's teacher.
Night!

Come on, Galit! You gotta keep up w/your updates! When I don't see you for a few days, this is how I see what you're up to & where you are. It IS neat to see others' perspectives on the events we all partake (flying classes). Kiss the girls for me... xo
And, hey, you gotta show me how to post videos.
