Hair today, gone tomorrow

The back:

The front:

(photos taken after I biked back from getting it cut -- it looked a lot better before I got sweaty)

The salon is called lovella, and my stylist's name is Avi. He's a friend who has been cutting my hair for years. I keep going back because I don't need to go often since no matter what length my hair is, as it is growing in, it keeps looking good. I think of Avi as a master chess player, who can visualize what my hair will do at each step of its growth, and cuts to make it keep looking good.

Plus Avi knows that I won't do much in terms of styling, and with his cuts, I don't need to, but I can if I want, and they'll look that much better.

It's funny, but I was reading an article on MSN.com about a stylist who charges $800 a cut, and feels it's justified because his cuts last long before you have to get them trimmed. Then the woman writing the article, who had gotten the cut was saying how she'd be back in 8 weeks or so for another. Hello?! 8 weeks is not long at all! Avi cut my hair in January and I have short hair. I'm supposed to get it cut every month or two, but as it was growing in, it kept looking good, and so I kept postponing getting it cut.

I finally did though, because I'm really not ready to grow it out and go long again... maybe towards winter, we'll see. But I can see this cut lasting quite a while. (And certainly more than 8 weeks!)

Anyway, if anyone is looking for a new stylist, give him a shot.

The other place that I recently discovered, though they've probably been around for a while is Pret a Manger, a chain of eateries that have ready-made sandwiches, salads, etc. I've eaten at two separate locations when I've found myself in mid-town over the past couple of weeks sorting out our passports, and their food is quite yummy - lots of veggies in their sandwiches, and for those of us who don't always want a whole sandwich, you can buy half. Their salads are good too. My only complaint is that I wish they had some more vegetarian options, at least with the salads. Overall, I really liked it though, and would rather frequent them than Starbucks... hopefully they'll offer some competition.

And I'm thinking that although I hope to get in a bit of trapeze in Israel, my blog while I'm away might be more of a travelogue with some recommendations... I'm still figuring out the blog thing and what direction, if any, I want it to take. Hopefully all two people reading it will bear with me!

Love the Color!!! Cute cut.
As for Things 1 and 2, I got the reference and think it should remain unchanged. What else would you call them? Green Eggs and Ham?

I think the Things are cute names (and the Things are cute, funny, crazy and active Dr. Suess characters), but you can always invite the Things to suggest their own nicknames.

FYI, I can't read the polls--doesn't appear fully on my screen???
