Away at Getaway

Had a great weekend at Getaway, although it almost was cut short before it started. Fiji, who had been up there three times already came with me, since he loves the country, and I feel bad leaving him if I don't have to. So I asked Oleg to keep an eye on him while I check in, so that the staff wouldn't know I had a dog with me... then, right after we finish checking in, I turn to Leslie and say (about my roommate) "I hope she doesn't have a problem with dogs." I know, extremely stupid, as I realized a split second after the words left my mouth. A classic case of me putting my foot in my mouth... so the manager/person checking us in comes out and says "can I see you for a minute?" and asked my if I had a dog with me... I couldn't lie of course, so I told him I did, but that he had been up several times before, and that the owner had seen him and didn't say anything... he told me all about there strict "no pet" policy, and that he'd get back to me.

I was sure we'd be booted out, but he found me at the rig about an hour later, and had a waiver for me to sign, had all kinds of conditions for allowing Fiji to stay, and made me hand-write on the waiver: "I won't ever bring my dog again." I felt like I had been sent to the principal's office... but Fiji and I got to stay, and I'm used to being scolded (but no, not by the principal!)

As to flying -- since I had taken my planche out of lines at Streb, it seemed almost a no-brainer to do it at Getaway as well... and it was aside from catch time. I tried throwing it to Jeff, but choked:

Then tried with Dino, with no better success...

(Videos are much more entertaining with volume on)
Not an entirely successful weekend of flying.

But... Marisa and I learned to merengue (although we would have done better if we had partnered each other, I think...

I took my first doubles class, and actually had fun! (Of course, it was Dino teaching, so there were no trust issues, which is why I had avoided doubles until now)

Leslie was back, and I got to hear all about her European adventures!

Denise, who I haven't seen in about as long as Les was there!

I stayed up and danced instead of going to sleep early, like I usually do. (And drank far too much!)

My uprise is doing a little better than before, or at least doesn't take as much effort.

And I can always catch the planche o-o-l at Streb before taking it full size! (Although really, once I saw I was struggling hepping to Jeff, what I really should have done was keep throwing it to the net instead of trying other things)

For those who are Jewishly inclined, I'd like to wish you a very happy and healthy New Year.

Oh, and for those who don't know, we have two new additions:

Thunder (Black) and Storm (Grey), in English, anyway. They're Hebrew names are Meshi (silk) and Geshem (Rain), respectively. Fiji gets along really well with them.

And the reason I'm so chatty is because videos take forever to upload to youTube.
