I'm not even going to talk about Tuesday - (well, okay, maybe a little!) Progress was made on the layout, but I don't "get" the trick - I'm trying to break down the elements, and I think I'm actually succeeding, but it's still not right. And for reasons I can't quite fathom, I seem to expect this one to come easily (despite having to struggle and fight for every element of every trick that I've learned thus far!)
So Tuesday was layout, layout, layout, lots of frusturation, with some yoga thrown in with the group from the last class of the night - crow to tripod headstand, to crow again was the trick of the night, plus some side crow, forearm stand attempts, as well as some handstand ab work. Have I mentioned how much I enjoy doing the yoga!
So last night, going in to Streb, I had a real attitude - I was tired, had a stomach ache, and really, really, didn't want to deal with any of the drama or tension that have been characteristic of the recent classes I'd been in. And I was positive that class would suck.
Well, it was a topsy tury class - first catching, then tricks. Jeff had me practice flexus returns off of knee hang catches - a nice change after some recent frusturations with a regular return. The attempts met with some success (surprising, really, since it has been so long since I've tried them), and I think that they will comprise Thursday catch time in the near future.
Because all my companions for the late class bailed for one reason or another, I got a solo class with Jeff, Manny and Dino (score!), and after doing all those flexus returns, I thought it would be awfully nice to dust off the flexus trick, especially since I've been jonesing to do it for a while, but didn't want to "waste" class time that I neeed for the mod and layout - silly really, since I'm not on any deadline, but then again, how much progress can I make if I'm not focused? So maybe the new schedule needs to be Tuesday layouts, Thursday flexi, and weekend mods? But then, when will there be time for the blenders?
Anyway, the flexus wasn't bad - modest improvements were made on the takeoff, turnaround, and the hep. And even though I had to focus on 3 corrections per turn, somehow, was able to stretch my brain sufficiently to be able to handle it.
Here's one of the better attempts:
It was also nice seeing long lost Sam W (and thanks for your cinematographic skills, Sam!). Sam is responsible for getting this blog back in gear - every once in a while I get an email asking for an update or thanking me for an update. It reminds me to blog even when I'm hectic or down, or whatever, so thanks, Sam.
By the time I got to Streb, she was mostly sitting, not flying, but hopefully she'll be back flying again soon. Sam and Molly are two flyers I've always been in awe of -they can twist!
Oh, and as for the drama? Well, by mutual non-verbal communication, there was none. Thank heavens!

Thanks for the prompt update! I hope the videos came out okay. I am very sore today, but it feels good. :)
Hey !!!
If I don't leave comments it does not mean I do not read your blog
Russo Loco
Sorry I didn't make it. I would have loved a duo class with you and a chance to visit with Samantha. Instead Thursday was only the beginning of my illness. Ugh!!! Starting to regain strength today. Yippee for next Thursday.
Thanks for the mention Galit ;-). It's been great to see how strong your flying has gotten over the last year. I missed seeing some huge breakthroughs during the 6 or 8 months I was out!
