Thursday was a good night. After Tuesday's success with catching the mod, I was all fired up to practice it again on Thursday. So I did. Over and over. Like I said earlier, now I can really control when I let go of the bar - it's a conscious decision that I make, rather than merely throwing myself.
I've also learned how to adjust a bit, from a wonky uprise, or a swing that's sort of off. Those adjustments have been one of the hardest things for me when I fly - a bad take off, or hands too close, or too far, feeling lines, etc. have all thrown me for a loop - enough so that I can't complete the trick (whatever the trick of the moment might be.) Lately, though, as if of it's own accord, my body has been better able to make those adjustments, and suddenly I'm more able to think and react when I'm on the bar. It's kind of cool!
Anyway, for catches, I mixed it up, did some planches to see if I don't freak on the return. I did two in lines - catching the return bar (though maybe not being as tight as I'd like), then took one out - returned to the board on the second swing. (And am still stunned that I'm actually capable of *gaining* height!)
Then, just to prove that the mod catch on Tuesday wasn't a fluke, I threw it to Dino (and caught it!) I think we're still working on the timing of the release, as well as me being able to stall it out at catch point. When I used to throw it, I'd travel it to the catcher, and now I initiate the mod a little later, and release at peak.
A good class overall. It was also nice seeing Denise finally look up at Dino and catch her layout, and get closer and closer to returning each time, and nice to see Fran back in action, with a beautiful split catch and return (round trip).
