Saturday morning, I met Fran at the subway station, and the two of us, together with Things 1 and 2 made our way into Brooklyn. For some reason, the Things were particularly challenging for most of Saturday.
I tried to recreate the mod success of Thursday. But I think my hip bones were a little raw from trying *so* many times on Thursday, and it hurt too much to get into more than once. So I moved on to practicing my turnaround clap, and then the cut catch.
The claps were pretty lame, (soundless, according to Dino!) and I don't think I rode the seven up enough before attempting to clap.
I didn't fare much better with the cut catch. Note that I don't call it a straddle cut catch. That's because I keep forgetting to straddle.
This is my best attempt:

I met a nice lady named Alex in the class. She recognized me, and Things 1 and 2 from the blog, and offered to video my swings. It surprises me when I go to a class, and someone tells me that they read the blog. Usually when I'm writing, I assume that 5 people, tops will read it. But I keep seeing people that I either haven't met before, or haven't seen in ages, and they tell me that they've seen the blog. Cool! It was also sweet of Alex to keep videotaping me. It was very helpful in seeing what I was doing wrong (although it takes much more than that for me to correct it...) I would have pleaded that she send it to me, but I really was not that impressive.
At catch time, I threw a plache, a couple of splits, and the flexus at Lizzy. I would have loved another go at the flexus, since our timing was a hair off, but hey, there is always next week.
Between turns, the Things and I were pracicing some acroyoga. The Things have improved so much in the time that we've been playing with it, and are more and more willing to try new positions. It's also gotten easier for me to lift Thing 1 (who weighs 68 pounds!) than it has been before, so we can do more. At catch time, Thing 1 was trying to base Thing 2, and doing a pretty decent job of it. I spotted her when she based Thing 2 in the backbend, and showed her how to stack her bones.
We came back to Streb later because Thing 1's friend was performing in the SLAM show with her pop-action class. The Things helped sell raffle tickets, and had an altogether wonderful time. Thing 1 wants to take pop action classes in the fall, and, to be completely honest, I wouldn't mind taking those classes myself.
And today, Sunday, the high point was going to Central Park and seeing Idan Reichel perform. I videotaped the song that I am composing a piece to, but it's too big for youTube to load... now I wish I knew how to do music editting, since hearing the live version makes me want to play with the version I have.
Anyway, I'm exhausted from this action-packed weekend.
Abba, I wanted to wish you a happy father's day. I am very lucky to have you as my father, and I love you very much. To all the other fathers out there (and fathers to be), happy father's day to you as well. You are hugely important in your kids' lives, so keep on being involved.
Peace.
