As much as I loved the beauty of Hacienda Zuleta, Hacienda Cucin was also pretty magnificent. Purchased by an Englishman, who collects religious artwork, garments, etc., it is rich in artwork and color, and has many charming nooks charmingly decorated. I wish I had taken more pictures.

There were lovely gardens, which there wasn't nearly enough time to explore, complete with two llamas.

There was also a monastery with a hidden passageway that the girls discovered, as well as a game room, ping pong room, and cozy living room where they lit an afternoon fire and had tea and coffee available for those who wanted it.

Several of the Backroads leaders who were leading other trips loved it so much that they made it their base in Ecuador between trips. I could certainly see why.
